Welcome to Salty Bet! This is pretty much the guild spectator sport, so i'm here to explain it to you to the best of my ability!
First off this is where you can find Saltybet: www.saltybet.com
And this is where you can find the tournament brackets (we'll get to this soon): www.saltybet.com/shaker?bracket=1
Saltybet is a 24/7 livestream of a game called Mugen which is a highly customizable 2D fighting game system. It allows any fighter from any game to be put into it and even custom fighters that aren't in games which are not limited to TV show character or real life persons. On Saltybet two of these fighters from the massive pool available are randomly selected and fight one another, controlled by AI. If you sign up and make an account you can even bet on who you think will win (with fake money)!
Each fighter is given a Tier, fighters will only fight others within their Tier to keep things fair. By winning/losing 8 games in a row a fighter can raise/lower their own tier. the Tiers are as follows, from highest to lowest:
X Tier: Start before the clock, win after you've already lost, you have no hitbox, you don't need a special meter to use your skills, you can't take damage. X Tier is where all of the cheapest fighters hang out and you need to be specifically crafted as such in order to get into this club.
S Tier: If you can get someone in an unlimited damage loop, become invulnerable, heal yourself, or are just so powerful you destroy everyone in Rank A, welcome to S tier.
A Tier: This is your traditional Mugen fighter or fighting game boss character. Typically with flashy moves and a theme, these characters are able to impress and awe.
B Tier: This is your normal-grade fighter. Your Ryu and similar characters will be found here and is considered to be the fighting game standard.
P Tier: Affectionately referred to as "Potato Tier". This is where the worst of the worst hang out, sometimes the fighters here don't even have special attacks. It's actually called "Player Tier" because that's what it would look like if humans were playing.
As the day goes on the game mode will change. The day often goes as follows:
100 Random Matches (between 4-6 hours of play)
tournament (Around 30 minutes-1 hour of 16 fighters)
20-30 Exhibition Matches (Around an hour)
Random matches are just as it sounds, random people chosen by the system.
Exhibition Matches are chosen by donators to the site and occur after every tournament. this is the only time mixed tiers can exist.
Tournaments are selected of a random tier, typically A or S and never P. You start with a different money pool that is separate from your other winnings, so don't be afraid to lose all your money here. Refer to the tournament link above to see how the brackets work!
